Process

Every project is different, so our process isn’t about fitting you into a package or following the exact same checklist every time.

We want to understand what you’re trying to accomplish, who you need to reach, and why the story matters before we decide what the project should become. The strategy and creative work develop together from there.

1

Start With a Conversation

We want to hear what you’re working on, why you reached out, and what you think you might need. We’ll usually spend some time learning about your organization beforehand so we can spend more of that conversation asking useful questions.

We may talk about:

  • Your goals and audience

  • What feels unclear or isn’t connecting

  • Timeline, budget, and initial scope

2

Find the Direction

We look at the audience, larger brand direction, organizational priorities, and the stories already around you. From there, we narrow in on what the project needs to communicate and recommend a direction to shape with you.

This may include:

  • Audience and communication goals

  • Story and message development

  • Existing story opportunities

  • Recommended creative direction

3

Prepare the Story

Once the direction is clear, we start figuring out what we need to capture it well.

We work with you to identify the right people to talk to, the places where the story actually happens, the questions worth asking, the existing materials that might matter, scheduling, and anything else we need before production.

This may include:

  • Interview and story planning

  • Locations and scheduling

  • Archival or existing materials

  • Creative and production planning

Film What’s Actually There

Our approach on set is organized, but conversational. We want people to feel prepared and comfortable without sounding rehearsed.

Depending on the project, we may capture:

  • Interviews

  • People and environments in action

  • B-roll and supporting moments

  • Events or other story elements

5

Find the Story in the Edit

We go into production knowing what we’re looking for, but the edit is where the pieces connect together.

The edit may include:

  • Story and interview editing

  • Music and sound

  • Archival material

  • Color, graphics, and supporting elements when needed

6

Review It Together

Once we have a strong first cut, we share it with you, gather your feedback, and refine the story together.

This usually includes:

  • First-draft review

  • Consolidated client feedback

  • Final revisions and approval

7

Deliver the Story

Once the story is finished, we prepare it for the places it will have the greatest impact.

Depending on the project, that might mean one finished film or several versions designed for different audiences and platforms.

Final delivery may include:

  • Final film

  • Shorter or social edits

  • Vertical and horizontal versions

  • Captions and website-ready files

  • Guidance around how the story can be shared

And once the project has had some time in the world, we like to hear what happened.
